The Social Justice Charter aims to accelerate progress towards a just and fair world for all.

Signatories to the charter agree to a set of commitments which combat the many symptoms of social injustice through meaningful change. This approach will build fair systems for society and the people who are most impacted by the organisation's actions; their stakeholders.

Through understanding their stakeholders, taking meaningful actions to help them, and openly communicating progress towards goals, signatories will contribute to social justice in the world.

Social justice is the just distribution of, and access to opportunities, privileges, and the benefits of growth within society.

We believe that every human is different and should be treated with equity to create a fair world enjoyed by all.

Why Now?

We are at a social justice tipping point. Over recent years, we have seen an increase in civil movements of all kinds calling for organisations of all types to improve fairness and justice in all parts of society. Moreover, investors are demanding businesses demonstrate meaningful progress in combating their two top areas of concern: the climate crisis and systemic social injustice. People everywhere are demanding fair treatment of all people and they will protest with their feet, voices, and their money.

Many businesses have felt a moral imperative to deliver statements of support of these movements, but few have been able to go beyond this. This has led to a wide criticism of performative allyship without taking meaningful action.

We believe that reacting to these social issues is not enough; businesses must respond by taking proactive action. Organisations have the power to create a fair and just world through the systems they create, the businesses they operate, the products and services they provide, and the interactions with their stakeholders.

That is why we have worked with a taskforce of organisations to create the Social Justice Charter. It is a framework to leverage transformative innovation, help organisations build fair systems, and put social justice at the heart of their governance. This inherently includes contributing to a healthy environment which we all need to thrive.

This is not a marketing opportunity. The structure of this public commitment means that organisations will be equipped with the means to improve the lives of all their stakeholders and society.
